11-year-old wins contest to sing onstage with Keith Urban, steals the entire show

Many young people dream of singing on stage with their musical heroes. Lauren Spener Smith no longer has to dream. Adults are obsessed with asking children what they want to be when they grow up. Only some kids have definitive answers. Lauren Spencer-Smith has always had the same answer: a musician.
Luckily, the girl is incredibly talented. She had been able to wow her schoolfriends for many years. But one day, she would get the opportunity to share her talent with a larger audience. Spencer-Smith has always been a fan of Keith Urban. She also learned that he holds competitions for young people to sing with him during his concerts. She saw that Urban was singing at Sunfest, which is nearby to where Spencer-Smith lives, so she entered the contest. Amazingly, Spencer-Smith became one of two finalists. But Urban couldn’t make up his mind between the two, so they were both invited to sing with him. But Spencer-Smith’s performance was absolutely mind-blowing.
“She’s got an amazing little voice, and she’s only 11. And I just wanted to sing with her so bad.”
Then Spencer-Smith walked out, and the crowd all cheered. She seemed incredibly confident, despite the fact that she was next to her musical hero and in front of over 20,000 people. After the girl had introduced herself, Urban started playing on his acoustic guitar. He also told the crowd to join in if they knew the song they were about to play. But everyone wanted to hear Spencer-Smith’s voice after so much hype from Urban!

Spencer-Smith sang “When the rain is blowing,” the opening lyrics to Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan. Instantly, the crowd could see that Urban was telling the truth about Spencer-Smith’s voice. Everyone loved listening to her, and soon loud cheers rang out from across the audience. In fact, Spencer-Smith was so good at singing that it was easy to believe that she was already a professional singer. And then Urban harmonized with her, and the two singers’ voices complemented one another perfectly. When the musicians finished their song, an even louder cheer came from the audience. In fact, it might just have been the loudest cheer of the evening. Urban then promised that we’d all hear more of Lauren Spencer-Smith in the future, and it’s easy to see why! Luckily, a member of Spencer-Smith’s family was filming the entire thing.
